I (Emily Pham) and two other BLA4s (Krish Jain and Natasha Rees) worked on a studio course that is taught by Afshin Ashari and Nadia Amoroso, Professors at UofG researching the extensive possibilities with AI and Landscape Architecture. Our class did an experiment with AI where part of the class would do a landscape architecture analysis and graphics conventionally, and the other part would do the same project but fully AI generated that can only be digitally touched up by 20%. It was to compare the graphical quality and efficiency. Our team did an analysis of Barcelona, Spain and their notable Superblocks urban planning layout and how this concept gets affected or affects Catalonian culture (tourism, soccer, faith, LGBTQIA+ communities and more). We used the programs: ChatGPT (partial research, captions, and SWOT analysis), Aino (site analysis), Google Gemini (graphics), and Adobe Firefly (graphics and touch ups). Issues with prompting and open-source data were apparent but we are excited to be able to learn and produce an interesting experimental project where we learned the advantages and drawbacks of artificial intelligence.
