"AI and Landscape Architecture"

Abstract

The Urban Atlas of Barcelona, Spain was a cityscape analysis project for the Bachelor's of Landscape Architecture (BLA) program's community design studio course. The team used storytelling to design how the urban fabric design of Barcelona impacts the way of life for current Catalonians. We focused on highlighting how the urban planning concept and application of SuperBlocks (3x3 apartment grid with reduced inner traffic) influences factors like religious values, community, pedestrian and vehicular circulation and more. For this project programs like Google Gemini, Adobe Firefly, ChatGPT were used for graphics and analysis. The most applicable program was Aino, an AI powered GIS platform for geographical data analysis. Overall, our team was able to focus on manipulating the AI to produce our creative ideas and story tell how superblocks show a different way of life in Barcelona.
